Or, as io9 commenter LowellAutolycus suggests, it's a cast member from the production of Mary Poppins - currently on stage at the Millennium Centre - on her way to the sandwich shop across the street.

But it's highly unlikely.

The American Festivals Project took off to New Orleans to document Indian Sunday, a major gathering of the Mardi Gras Indian tribes. Each suit is a labor intensive work of art hand sewn by the wearer. By tradition, a new suit is required each year, and St. Joseph's night marks the last parade before the current years suits are dismantled.

I dunno. I do like the Spike Jonze - although can you imagine what Michel Gondry could have done? And Dave "McSweeney's" Eggers co-wrote the screenplay. So it has potential. I'll have to wait and see some reviews. One thing is for sure, there will be no middle ground with this movie.

The end of days is nigh. Tonight is the final episode of the final season of Battlestar Galactica.

*sigh*

Tuesday night at an event that raised the bar for awesometoast, BSG stars Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, along with series creators Ronald D. Moore and David Eick appeared at a panel discussion at the UN - that's right. The UNITED FRAKKING NATIONS. They were there to discuss the intersection of themes from the show - human rights, reproductive rights, terrorism - and events in the real world.

And apparently, this happened:

At one point the discussion lit a fire under the Admiral, and the talk of human rights turned personal for Edward James Olmos. The "Old Man" launched into a passionate speech about casting off the idea of race as a cultural determinant, and said we were one race, the human race. His voice echoed throughout the chamber growing louder until - I kid you not - he was yelling, "So Say We All," and the crowd answered right back. Hell, even I yelled it, I was in the fraking United Nations with Adama, the gods themselves could not have stopped this moment. It was surreal - the entire audience turned into one massive optimistic/role-playing/saddened goosebump, because who knows when we'll ever hear those words again? And then we were doubly geeked out when, as if on cue, Mary McDonnell turned to Olmos and put her hand on his cheek. But the real chills came from realizing that this treasured television show had actually opened up the lines of communication between the audience and the United Nations. BSG has made people think about the troubling deeds happening in darkened rooms in the present day, not just on a spaceship in the future.

The Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Planning, Robert Orr, admitted that he hasn't talked about terrorism or nuclear armageddon in a social situation since 1982 (although he talks about those issues daily at work). "We don't like to confront these issues in our lives, but they are real," said Orr. "If a show can get us thinking about it and talking about it, then Amen, because it isn't easy." Ahem, I think you meant, "Thank the gods." But he's got a point, and I don't think there is another show on television that could recreate last night at the United Nations, by addressing current issues in such a manner.

What am I going to do without you BSG?

Supernatural 4.15 "Death Takes a Holiday"

Mo Ryan at the Chicago Tribune has all sorts of spoilery goodness!

First, a mess of clips from tonight's episode.

She also talks at length with writer and producer Sera Gamble about what we can expect for the second half of the season. 

On thing to look forward to - the March 26 alternate universe episode that sees Dean living the corporate life.  Suits, lattes, and *gasp* a sensible "energy-conscious set of wheels".

And!  AND!  The bestest news EVAH!

The angels’ plan for Dean will be revealed this season,” Gamble said. But don’t fear Castiel going away: The show has been renewed for a fifth year, and guest star [Misha] Collins has been upped to series-regular status for Season 5.

"Being wrapped up with what’s going on with Sam and Dean is really dangerous for an angel like Castiel", Gamble said. “He is getting to like Dean quite a bit. Dean is a terrible influence on an angel, I think, because everything about Dean’s way of looking at the world is antithetical to being an angel, which is all about obedience and following the party line and doing what you’re told without question.”

This news convinces me even more that Sam is going to somehow be linked to Lucifer (if he isn't actually the vessel).  

Could this conflict lead to a Winchester versus Winchester showdown before the season is over?

“As to where exactly Sam and Dean’s relationship is headed, I have to say, tune in and find out,” Gamble said. “But it’s true that their relationship has been fraying and has been different since Dean got out of hell. They spent that time apart. Sam was ... was suicidal. Dean was in hell. They were very changed. ... And a lot of this season has been about the ways in which they can’t connect anymore.”

"Their relationship is not as simple as it used to be," Gamble added. "When an audience member says, 'I've been watching it since Season 1 and I just really miss the way they used to be together,' so do Sam and Dean."

Just my speculation - but if Season 4 has been about the fraying of the brothers' relationship, Season 5 is going to be open warfare - between them, and their allies.  Fun!

Kripke has said that he's had the final scene of the final episode planned out in his head since day one.  Knowing him, we'll get a headstone that says, "Sam and Dean Winchester.  They saved the World.  A Lot".

So let me just get a preemptive DAMN YOU KRIPKE!!!! in now.

Here's the official description for the March 19 episode, "On The Head Of A Pin," written by Ben Edlund:

Someone found Lucifer's sword and is using it to kill angels. Castiel (Misha Collins) and Uriel (guest star Robert Wisdom) have captured Alastair (guest star Christopher Heyerdahl) and ask Dean (Jensen Ackles) to use the torturing skills he learned in Hell to extract information from him so they can stop the murders. Sam (Jared Padalecki) is concerned Dean can't handle the job but Dean agrees to do it. However, when Alastair reveals some shocking information, Dean's world is shattered.

Wow.  This seems to jibe with the promo I posted last week.  Ben Edlund has written some of my favorite episodes, and he can definitely hit the twisted humor sweet spot *cough* giantsuicidalteddybear *cough*.  But something tells me this epi is going to be longer on the angst than on the funny.

Shocking admission time.  As stoked as I am for the upcoming Watchmen movie ... I've never actually read the comic.  

I know, right?  It's back to nerd re-education camp for me.  Again.  Some more.

Watchmen wasn't even on my radar until its significance to Lost was pointed out (probably in one of T's recaps).  Add to that the fact that JDM is in it, and I like the Dark Knighification of super heroes, and you get an opening day ticket buyer.

Wikipedia gave me the basic story outline, and now io9 has helpfully provided the context of what I'll be watching come the weekend.

 Anna the Angel is back and!  AND!  so is Tessa the Reaper!  

Anna the "disgraced angel" is back, and so's Tessa, the reaper who tried to claim Dean back in the season two opener. And Dean and Bobby start an intervention for Sam, over his addiction to demon blood, and keep him prisoner. (Bondage!) Also, the show is casting a cutie-pie 11 year old who's suddenly possessed and turns into an ice queen, which means Lilith is probably coming back.

So that's what Sam has been up to. My guess was that he was allowing Ruby to possess him (no, not like that). I just hope they make it make sense ... we've already been down the magic = addiction road with Willow in Buffy Season 6.  And it never really worked for me.  

But seriously? How awesome does this preview look? SQUEEEE!!!!

In other happy happy, joy joy news, the CW announced on Tuesday that Supernatural got the pick up for Season 5.  Yay!  Although its nice how the show barely rates a, "oh yeah, those guys too" mention at the end of the press release.  Stay classy CW.
