#LOST: This is the end, beautiful friend, "The End"

This time tomorrow - barring any electromagnetic events - I will be happily ensconced in the warm embrace of my LOST fandom.

In Houston.

I don't live in Houston.  I don't live anywhere remotely near Houston.  "But wax|wendy", you're no doubt thinking, "that's a really long way to go for a TV show, even one as awesome as LOST."  You're not wrong, but that's where my peeps are.  And they are worth the trip.

Or as our faithful leader T put it:

Is it silly to have cared this much about a television show? Probably. But it was never just about the show, as special as it was. It was about finding a group of like-minded people with whom it was a joy to share this experience that was Lost. We're not just losing a remarkable television show, we're losing a community. A nation-wide, internet-based community of fans who have become friends, bonded by this program.
I'll see you on the other side.

Artfully #LOST

When it isn't sparking debate, obsession and teeth gnashing, LOST is inspiring creativity.

Graphic designer Jared Stumpenforst has set himself the task of designing one new LOST themed illustration per day for the next year.  So far he's up to #44.

His work is inventive, playful, and elegant in its simplicity.

A limited number of prints are available and he's promising t-shirts to come.

His non-LOST work is also worth checking out at stumpyhorse.com.

The character pieces are especially strong.  You can feel the tension in this portrait of Jack, captured in the moment just before the crying starts.  Come on, it's Jack!  You know the big salty man tears are imminent.

City Gonzales has a round up of 101 awesome LOST t-shirts.  Not all of them are available for sale, and of course, the one I most want is currently only a concept design.  I haz a sad.

ABC  is releasing a series of character mash up videos, and they're starting with Ben.  I'm sure this is what Michael Jackson had in mind when he wrote the song.  via The Wrap with a tip o'the hat to Karen.

ONE WEEK! ONE WEEK! ONE WEEK! ONE WEEK!

I can't even stand it. Seriously.  For now, I will have to comfort myself by supping at the glowing buffet of promo clips and teasers that are making the rounds.

I want to have Christmas dinner with this family.  You know it's a hoot.  I love how everyone commits with such enthusiasm.  Well, except for the old guy in the kitchen.  He's not getting on the damn plane until he's damn good and ready.  He's eating a snack ovah heayah!

Tip o'the hat to T!

There's a lot going on in this clip, but if you're up for a spoiler, hit pause at the 15 second mark.  Mr. T approves.

Spain has been putting together some very interesting and provocative promos.  It's a vase!  No, it's a lady!  Wait, it's a vase again.

Happy New Year from wax|wendy

tip o'the hat to Tubular!

If you're planning to brave the cold and crowds of Times Square, a bit of advice. Do not step to Kathy Griffin.
