Totally geektastic gift ideas for the fanboy and nerdgirl in your life - 2010: Part of the Second

To be the man, you've got to beat the man ... in a mask.

Do you need to affix take out menus and childrens' art to your fridge?  Well, there's a magnet for that.

I make this suggestion with fair warning - buy it ONLY if your giftee was eventually able to purchase Comic Con 2011 tickets.

Otherwise I take no responsibility for the thrashing you're likely to incur.

Does your loved one want to be among the first to welcome our sentient robot overlords?  Consider sending them to Singularity University.
Singularity University is an interdisciplinary university whose mission is to assemble, educate and inspire leaders who strive to understand and facilitate the development of exponentially advancing technologies in order to address humanity’s grand challenges. With the support of a broad range of leaders in academia, business and government, Singularity University hopes to stimulate groundbreaking, disruptive thinking and solutions aimed at solving some of the planet’s most pressing challenges. Singularity University is based at the NASA Ames campus in Silicon Valley.

Naturally, if you go to the trouble of selecting the perfect geektastic gift, you should at least wrap it in perfectly geektastic paper.

You could give me an empty box on Christmas, I wouldn't care.  Not if it was wrapped in Dune paper.

Totally geektastic gift ideas for the fanboy and nerdgirl in your life - 2010

It's the day after Thanksgiving, friends. Let the shopping begin!

The Enochian translates to, "Peace out, douchewad".

Yes, I've already ordered one.  Yes, it is just that awesome.

Sadly, these 75th anniversary DC Chucks won't be out until Spring 2011.  Maybe a geektastic idea for Easter then.

I love my iPhone, but there are times when I miss a physical keyboard.  Think Geek feels my pain.  That's why the developed the blue tooth enabled flip out keyboard.

Naturally Apple laughs at my pain. That's why it's not compatible with the 3G.

#Supernatural 6.2: Two and a Half Men

The search to discover how and why Sam is back is derailed when he's ordered to enter rehab and attend anger management classes.  Lisa is dismayed when Dean suddenly begins wearing creepers and pining for the quirky red head who hangs out at the record store.

Conchata Ferrell guest stars.

The human race isn't going to save itself

This is just a different cut of an earlier trailer, but now with the sucktastic goodness of a Steven Tyler power ballad!

You are all my witnesses ... if Ben Affleck gets CGI'd into this thing, there will be cutting.

Fire the wave motion gun!

In the name of all that is good and holy, will you just release this movie in the US already?!?

According to this, the live action version of Star Blazers will be released in December.  I'll believe it when I see it.  Between this and the fabled third Riddick movie, how much longer does a girl have to wait??

I need two heads ...

... because how could I possibly be expected to choose just one of etsy seller Janine Basil's delicious creations?  io9 featured her comics inspired embroidered headbands several weeks ago, but her fascinators and hats are equally fun, flirty, and fantastic.

This Lynda Carter-era Wonder Woman headband may be my favorite, and would be ideal for my first foray to Comic Con.

I'm also in love with these orange bubbles.

It would almost be worth getting married again so I could wear this as my something blue.  Almost.

And I mean, come on!  Who doesn't need a glittery purple mini burlesque crown?

Dammit, I only have so many kidneys!

And I was saving them up to bid on a Metallicar when Supernatural wraps production.

But if you've got some spare organs or disposable income sitting around, you might consider placing a bid on one of these fabulous LOST props when they go up for auction August 21 and 22.

You can preview the items here, and begin making those tough calls - such as do you pay your rent for the next three months, or do you try and win Sawyer's copy of Watership Down?

It will look great on your bookshelf, but remember ... you can't live in a book.

There are two players.  One side is light, and one side is dark.

Artfully #LOST - part of the second

More great LOST inspired art from Ty Mattson.  He kicked things off with a series of viewing party invites that he turned into posters, and is now creating illustrations based on each episode of the current and finale season.

This new work distills the heart of the episode into starkly elegant form.

"Recon" might be my favorite.  I'm still holding out hope for a Sawyer / Juliet reunion in Timeline B, despite the fact that she's busy fighting aliens in Timeline V.

#io9moviemonday - Reign of Fire

The home world has picked another gem to tweet tonight.  Reign of Fire should have been much better than it was, but somehow just ... didn't ... quite ... get there.

Despite this

And this

And most certainly this!

It's a Stampede! Link Roundup 4/18

This month I'm spending my student loan payment on Wendy Brandes' effulgent Spike inspired Vampire Diana ring.

Real vampires don't sparkle.

When I marry my next ex-husband, this is what I'm wearing.

Created by Chicago designer Christina Liedtke, more than 1,800 flowers were individually cut and sewn from 600 wrappers of the world's most perfect food - peanut M&Ms.

Tip o'the hat to @nahtzen.

Seriously, fandom?  Seriously.

Castiel is the #1 rising name for boys so far this year.

Of course it's the parents who start naming their kids Ruby and Azazel that you have to watch out for.

In the name of all that is good and holy, do NOT click on this link unless you have several hours to kill. You've been warned.

One week from RIGHT NOW, Zoomom and I will be in New Orleans at Jazz Fest.  Based on previous experience, the Fair Grounds will likely be one big mud bowl by then as well.

This year, I'm planning ahead, and will be shod accordingly.

Even dark lords of the Sith gotta eat.

So this is apparently a thing.  Tip o'the hat to @rd2020

Left For Dead On A Monster Planet - not just the name of my new band

You are killing me Vin Diesel!
He and David Twohy have been talking up the third Riddick movie for the past year, and now we receive another glimmer of hope that the project is moving forward.  Riddick himself released this concept art via Facebook.

As always, take the "chop chop!" as read.

That's a damn fine cup of coffee. Damn fine.

20 years? TWENTY YEARS???

 *sigh*

It's hard to believe, but April 8 was the 20th anniversary of the debut of Twin Peaks.  I was in college at the time, and clearly couldn't be seen hanging out in the TV room when I could be out doing college type stuff, so I had my mom tape it for me.  This meant when I came home at breaks, I would have 5 or 6 hours of show that I would watch all at one go.

It was kind of like having your brain removed, danced on by a midget, and then replaced with pie.

I wonder if Josie is still trapped in the night stand?
