Sam was going to ask her to marry him

Doctor Who fans have one, and so do Trekkies, now Supernatural fans have a way to say "ours is an erotically co-dependent love that burns hotter than a young mother on the ceiling of her son’s nursery".

BEHOLD!

From the Gunslinger collection by Tasha Rae Jewelry (as featured today on Fab.com, get 'em while they're hot).   This piece is a repurposed Winchester .38 Special bullet casing with a sterling silver back and band, and Swarovski crystal center.

According to the artist's web site, rings are also available in other bullet casings styles.  So I guess if you really wanted to show your devotion to both your beloved and your fiancee, you could request a .45 ACP (for Dean's Colt M1911A1) or 9x19 MM (for Sam's Taurus Model 92).

Former executive producer and show runner Sera Gamble once said she would know the show had achieved cult status when people started getting SPN tattoos.  Now I think the next step is someone proposing at a con - and having Misha officiate on the spot.

It's British Friday! It's British Friday!

It's no secret that we love us some Jason Statham here at wax|wendy.  Naturally I was delighted last night when @tortiegirl advised me that he has a new movie coming out.  My first thought though when I read Killer Elite: Statham Vs. Owen was, "Owen Wilson? What? Why?"

Then I clickied on the linkie.

Not Owen Wilson.

Clive Owen.  *GASP!*

Shit just got real.

The Stathe is an action god, and Clive Owen has some surprising chops.  If you've seen Shoot 'em Up (and why haven't you?) you know what I'm talking about.

Also, two words: pleasuring Monica Bellucci while fighting ninjas at the same time.

From what I can gather from the trailer, the movie is basically The Stathe and Clive Owen beating holy hell out of each other for two hours. Robert De Niro and Mr. Eko from LOST are there too. Yes please!

As the BuzzFeed so eloquently put it, we all win!

A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care

Caldwell Tanner created covers for four classic childrens books reimagined as sci-fi.  Artist Julia Yu took one of those covers and filled it with AWESOME!

Goodnight Dune ...

Her version of Dune is perhaps a better introduction to the story than the coloring and activity books that were published as tie-ins to David Lynch's 1984 movie version.

Duke Leto and Piter die.

 You CAN color THEM!

What better way to teach 4th and 5th graders about political intrigue, messianic breeding programs, assassination, revenge, walking without rhythm, and drugs!  Don't forget the drugs!

The no bake spice cookies must flow!  Paul eats delicious spice cookies. They allow him to shorten the way, be many places at once, and see all possible futures. You can make some cookies that will show you the Golden Path too ... if you survive.

Be sure to ask a grown-up to melt the butter for you.

The Dune activity books also have an important Green message. Water is life.  Conserve.  Recycle. Reuse.

Coilhouse has a spice blows worth of scans from the activity books.  Perfect for the whole gom jabbar family.

#Mishasrhino: The game's afoot!

When I opened my mailbox Wednesday I was surprised to see a manilla envelope.  I didn't remember ordering anything.  And then I saw the return address ...

OMG IT'S MY RHINO!  MISHA'S RHINO IS HERE!  MISHA'S RHINO IS HERE!  OH, HAPPY DAY!!  HAPPY RHINO DAY!

Rhino, you say?  In December, following the Supernatural fandom's glorious TV Guide cover poll win, Misha Collins made the following pledge via the twitters:

All you had to do was send him a plastic bag and a SASE.  I had forgotten all about it, but Misha was true to his word ...

The human race isn't going to save itself

This is just a different cut of an earlier trailer, but now with the sucktastic goodness of a Steven Tyler power ballad!

You are all my witnesses ... if Ben Affleck gets CGI'd into this thing, there will be cutting.

#Supernatural: The characters are the lifeblood

I am mecha excited by the news (extensively covered by @SuperWiki) that Supernatural is getting the anime treatment.

MADHOUSE will produce 22 episodes set during Seasons 1 and 2, and due for release in January 2011.  It will be a combination of canon and stories written specifically for the anime series.

I kind of love the entire concept, and I'm heartened by the fact that directors Miya Shigeyuki and Ishizuka Atsuko come across as total fanboys in a recent interview on the anime site.  Best of all, they really seem to "get" what the show is all about.
What are the highlights the Directors would impress upon?
Miya: "That's a difficult one. Like the original series that has everything, please enjoy the world of Supernatural. We're going to have fun with it too (laughs)"
Ishizuka: "Whatever the case, the characters are the lifeblood! Please enjoy watching Sam and Dean!"
I want to embroider that last bit on a pillow.  The translated text can be found here, courtesy of focaccina.

I don't know why they didn't do this sooner

As if there was any question that the U.S. is still the fattest greatest nation on Earth, BEHOLD!

The Cheerwine flavored Krispy Kreme donut.

I know, right??

For gentle readers sadly not in the know, Cheerwine is a lightly cherry flavored soda that my brother has described as "God's own sweat."

The donuts are on offer only for the month of July, and available only in North and South Carolina.  The two companies cited their close historic ties with the states in deciding to limit the run - although frankly I don't see why they couldn't have thrown a little love southeastern Virginia's way.

I anticipate a hot interstate trade in bootleg pastries springing up.

Reporters from the Salisbury Post got an advance box on Wednesday, and initial reactions were positive.  My favorite is this opinion from man on the street Jesse Davis:
Davis was asked to rate the doughnut on a scale of one to 10, asked where the doughnut fell.
”In my mouth,“ he said.

We stand on guard for thee!

Do you miss the Winter Olympics?  Do you want to keep the Olympic feeling in your heart, and ponder it every day?  Or if not your heart, maybe your lawn?  Then for a mere $5000 Canadian, you too can own one of the giant beavers from the closing ceremonies.

You know, the closing ceremonies where they decided to have a little fun and show off their Mary Carillo noted national sense of humour, and said eff it.  Let's just take every stereotype about Canada and make it 20 feet high and inflatable.

It's only a matter of time ...

... before I end up on this page - SuperWiki's gallery of fan tattoos inspired by Supernatural.

Normally, my impulse for new ink is controlled by geography, since "my guy" is in Houston at Shaw's.

Then I happened to notice that this piece was done by an artist in Richmond.

I don't know who sanctions these things, but who am I to question?

As always, do enjoy responsibly. Ask Saffy to drive you home.

"Yes sir, anything for her."

Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher were married on May 13, 1924.  That's 85 years.  Today they're answering relationship questions via twitter @longestmarried.

I say if anyone is qualified to dispense advice, it would be these lovely people.

ONE WEEK! ONE WEEK! ONE WEEK! ONE WEEK!

I can't even stand it. Seriously.  For now, I will have to comfort myself by supping at the glowing buffet of promo clips and teasers that are making the rounds.

I want to have Christmas dinner with this family.  You know it's a hoot.  I love how everyone commits with such enthusiasm.  Well, except for the old guy in the kitchen.  He's not getting on the damn plane until he's damn good and ready.  He's eating a snack ovah heayah!

Tip o'the hat to T!

There's a lot going on in this clip, but if you're up for a spoiler, hit pause at the 15 second mark.  Mr. T approves.

Spain has been putting together some very interesting and provocative promos.  It's a vase!  No, it's a lady!  Wait, it's a vase again.

It's funny because it's true: #LOST!

Two weeks! Two weeks from today I will be in such a state of anticipation and excitement it will require a horse tranq to get through the day.

Why, you ask? Well, it's only the premiere of the first episode of the last season of the greatest show ever. What, you don't watch it? You gave up in Season 2? Okay, so here's what's been ... oh.  Oh, I see.

I see what the Onion News Network did there.

Final Season Of 'Lost' Promises To Make Fans More Annoying Than Ever

I'm sorry we make you feel bad about yourself.  And that we make you read 10,000 word diatribes about old episodes instead of recapping new shows.

But look, really.  All the mysteries will be answered.  Darlton have even released some pretty telling spoiler info as a show of good faith.

Happy Birthday NG!

Today marks the 121st 122nd anniversary of the founding of the National Geographic Society. Originally formed to "increase and diffuse geographic knowledge", the society has expanded its mission to include "promoting the conservation of the world's cultural, historical, and natural resources."

The first issue of the iconic magazine came out in October, 1888. What my friend Nicki likes to call "the company newsletter".

I'm amazed when any business or institution can survive to make the century mark and beyond.  Especially now ... this is not the shiniest time to be in print media.

So celebrate the Society's longevity by picking up this month's National Geographic magazine.  Where else can you get a bionic limb, frolic with a clown fish, and travel from the urban sophistication of Singapore to the rugged wild coast of the Hebrides?

If you enjoy those stories, and others in the January issue, think about subscribing.  Maybe get two.  Makes a great gift.  Really.  Please.
